Extreme Home Makeover benefit this Wednesday!!

One day before a West Chester family sees their brand new home, courtesy of ABC's hit show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, a benefit will be held to help them with expenses. Steve and Julie Raliegh are putting together a benefit happening this wedesneday for the Akers family at the Savannah Event Center in West Chester.

The event, located at 5533 Chappell Crossing Blvd. will run from 7 p.m. until midnight.

There will be food from Mesh, Jag, Andy's Mediterranean Grill and many more restaurants.

Several celebrity guests will also be stopping by the event.

Some of the guests who will be making an appearance at the event include: Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis, the band Richie & the Students, the Ben-Gals and several others.

There will also be a silent auction.

Tickets to the event cost $20 and can be purchased at any Union Savings Bank branch or Guardian Savings Bank branch. They can also be purchased online.

Driving normal it took 20 minutes and got 15.4 mpg

It breaks down costing in gas $6.18 driving normally and $4.62 using hypermilage techniques to drive 23.8 miles.

It's the pet peeve of many concertgoers. Ticketmaster surcharges and other fees can turn a $50 concert ticket into a $75 ticket. And normally the only solution is staying home.

But Cincinnati's Riverbend Music Center, facing slower ticket sales and very few sold out shows this year, is making the rare move of lifting all ticket surcharges this week.

You can save as much as $15 per ticket if you purchase your tickets in person at the Riverbend Box office this week.

The box office will be open 11am till 6pm through Friday. You must show up in person: no phone call purchases.

Some tickets are still available to John Mellencamp, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, and Dave Matthews, shows that in most years would have sold out the first day.

Sorry, this offer does not apply to tickets not yet on sale, such as Toby Keith in September. As always, don't waste your money. I'm John Matarese.

Stattman takes a turn as a first lady contender!

He made both Cindy McCain's cookie recipe as well as Michelle Obama's that are published in Family Circle Magazine. Both are delicious! Wouldn't want to have to vote on this one!

Cindy McCain's Oatmeal-Butterscotch Cookies

Makes: 5-1/2 dozen cookies

Ingredients
3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) unsalted butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups rolled oats
1-2/3 cups butterscotch chips

Directions
1. Heat oven to 375 degree F.

2. In a large bowl beat the butter or margarine, granulated sugar and brown sugar together. Add the eggs and vanilla, beating well.

3. In a medium-size bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture; stir until blended. Stir in oats and butterscotch chips. Drop by tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.

4. Bake at 375 degree F for 10 minutes, until the edges begin to brown. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Michelle Obama's Shortbread Cookies

Makes: 6 dozen 2-inch x 3-inch cookies

Ingredients
1-1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1-1/2 cups plus 2 tablespoons sugar
2 egg yolks
2 tablespoons Amaretto (almond liqueur)
1 teaspoon each orange and lemon zest
3 cups cake flour (not self-rising)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 beaten egg white
Chopped nuts or dried fruit (optional)

Directions
1. Heat oven to 325 degree F. Line a 17 x 12 x 1-inch baking pan with nonstick foil. In large bowl, cream together butter and 1-1/2 cups of the sugar.

2. Slowly add egg yolks, and beat well until smooth. Beat in Amaretto and zest.

3. Stir in flour and salt until combined.

4. Spread dough evenly into prepared pan, flattening as smoothly as possible.

5. Brush top of dough with egg white; sprinkle with nuts or fruit (if using) and with remaining 2 tablespoons sugar.

6. Bake at 325 degree F for 25 minutes or until brown, turn off oven and allow cookies to sit in oven (with door ajar) for 15 minutes. Cut while slightly warm.

Chris Cagle and Girl friend Jennifer Tant - Nice Mugshots!

CHRIS CAGLE and his girlfriend, Jennifer Tant, were arrested early yesterday (Wednesday) morning at their home near Nashville, charged with misdemeanor violence and assault. Chris Cagle and his girlfriend were being held in a Nashville jail Wednesday morning according to WTVF-TV in Nashville.

Cagle's latest arrest occurred around 4:40 a.m. Wednesday after he and girlfriend Jennifer Tant visited Players Inn, a bar located west of Nashville in the Bellevue community. Police reports indicate the couple got into a verbal dispute after leaving the bar and that the disagreement apparently escalated into a physical altercation once they arrived at Cagle's home.

After arriving at Cagle's house, officers determined that Cagle and Tant appeared to be intoxicated and that both showed signs of physical abuse. According to a police affidavit, Cagle had a bump on his head caused by Tant hitting him with an umbrella, and Taut had a scrape on her lip and a sore arm from Cagle hitting her with her purse. According to the television station, the couple refused to leave the house, and Tant told police she would rather go to jail than leave Cagle's home.

Cagle and Tant were arrested and taken into custody under Tennessee state domestic violence laws that considered both of them to be a primary aggressor. The law also mandates that both of them remain in jail until 4:40 p.m. Wednesday. Bond has been set at $1,500 each.

Chris was scheduled to leave Wednesday on a bus for a show in Florida scheduled for last night. (No word on the show.) This is Chris' second brush with the law after an altercation in December with the boyfriend of a female fan in Arizona. He will be back in Tucson to face charges in that incident in September.
